Free Speech on the Right? No Way.

The mantra is that the left wants to shut down free speech. They want to control everything by using political correctness, the “fairness doctrine” for broadcasting, etc. It is the right that truly loves free speech. Having never experienced anything else, I believed it to be true.

Well, it is not true. There is a right wing website called RedState. Actually, it is not right-wing, it is a Republican site. If anyone posts a discussion or a comment that in some way is considered anti-Republican, it is deleted. The posters are banned.

Yesterday I posted a discussion about Republican RINOs. It must have gone against the “party line.” In addition, the fact that I live in China came into play. My discussion was deleted, and I was banned from the site.

RedState is a disgrace. The Republican Party should publically distance itself from it.

More Censorship in China

Best piece of laughter in months, almost choked on my coffee…

THE Internet in China was open and international companies were welcome, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Thursday, just two days after Google issued a statement saying it might quit China.

Spokeswoman Jiang Yu told a routine news briefing that China encouraged the development of the Internet.

“China’s Internet is open,” said Jiang. “China has tried creating a favorable environment for the Internet,” said Jiang in response to a question on Google’s possible retreat.

“China welcomes international Internet companies to conduct business within the country according to law,” she said. “China’s law prohibits cyber crimes including hacker attacks.”(Xinhua)

Meanwhile I had to post this blog using a proxy. Can’t access WordPress otherwise.

LATER

I just spoke with a friend. He told me a site dealing with MRI has been shut off (magnetic resonance imaging). What pisses both of us off is the lack out outrage by the Chinese people. They accept the censorchip without question.

Intolerance on the Right

A few days ago I published a diary on the Red State political site where I said I would rather not vote than vote for the lesser of two bad candidates. It’s a subject that has bothered me for years, and I was interested in an honest debate on the issue. I was overwhelmed by the responses for two reasons.

1. All of the replies to my discussion were negative toward me, but NOT ONE reply directly addressed the question.

2. The name calling, lack of logic, and closed mindedness, was breath taking.

After a few minutes the discussion was closed by the moderators. Later it was deleted entirely. I guess no dissenting opinions are welcome at RS. Sorry guys, if I did not adhere to the party line. Maybe I can spend next summer in a re-education camp. Republicans good, Democrats bad.

Below is a copy of the post I made on Red State. Unfortunately I did not save a copy of the comments before they were deleted by the Red State moderatorrs.

READY TO WASTE MY VOTE

I am tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. I am tired of voting for someone I am not enthused about. And I am very tired of helping elect statist Republicans with my time and money and votes.

From now on I am on strike. I will only vote for candidates with whom I agree on the issues. I will never again vote for a lesser of two evils or a RINO just to keep a Democrat out of office.

Why help put a candidate in office who will give the Democrats 50% of what they want, then declare it a great victory?

Why help put a candidate in office who proposes slightly smaller programs, taxes and schemes as alternatives to the more grandiose plans of the Democrats?

Why help put a candidate in office who has never repealed a law, cut a program, or fired a bureaucrat?

If there is a choice between a RINO and a Democrat only, I won’t vote at all.
