Janet Napolitano has been in law and government her entire life. How does that make her the best person to run the Department of Homeland Security? Simple answer, it doesn’t. The only reason she has been given in the job is her political connections.

It seems to me that a job in security would be better handled by an expert in security, not a professional politician. Surely there are people who have spent a lifetime in the security business that would be eminently more competent than Napolitano.

Really this is just a symptom of a larger problem. Thanks to the ever more meddlesome federal government, we have politicians running and regulating all sorts of businesses, industries and programs in which they have absolutely no experience nor competence. Does this make any sense in any way? No.
