Yesterday the Global Times and many other papers published a story about Japanese boats firing water cannons at Taiwanese fishing boats that were violating their territory in the area around the disputed Diaoya Islands. It occurred to me that this is a very good way to fight a war. Using water cannons, super soaker squirt guns, garden hoses, and water balloons is much better than using bullets.

Maybe in the future the water can be colored so anyone who is hit is stained and has to retire from the battle. Ideally the old men who are responsible for the disputes should decide the winner by nude Greco-Roman wrestling matches, but this will never happen. So short of that, water cannons seem to be a good idea.
