Two interesting stories were reported in the Shenzhen Daily on January 7. After reading them the old saying, “Some people have more money than sense.” came to mind.
A Tokyo restaurateur paid $1.62 million USD, or $7,385. USD/kg, for a single Bluefin tuna Saturday. The tuna weighed 222 kg. The buyer owns a chain of sushi restaurants. The buyer, named Kiyoshi Kimura, admitted, “the price was a bit high.”
The second story was about an Indian man named Datta Phuge who had a solid gold shirt, cuffs, and rings custom made for himself. The cost was $22,495. USD. Phuge said he had them made to impress women.
